If it has been greater than 72 hours following a sexual assault, you still have options! Did you know that there is no statute of limitations on rape in the state of Alabama? Although it may not be necessary for you to receive a sexual assault kit after 72 hours, you can still make a report to law enforcement and be seen, if appropriate, by a forensic nurse. The Tuscaloosa SAFE Center can help you learn more about your reporting options, resource and even organize for law enforcement to come to the center, where you can make a report.
