Women and Gender Resource Center
The Women and Gender Resource Center is a University of Alabama division of student affairs. The Tuscaloosa SAFE Center has partnered with the WGRC to provide medical advocacy to any student of The University of Alabama or Shelton State Community College who comes to the SAFE Center. These services are free and confidential, and we are happy to contact the WGRC for you. They have an advocate on call 24 hours a day to provide:

Accompaniment to the Tuscaloosa SAFE Center or the hospital

Crisis counseling

Safety planning

Location of safe housing

Support group information

Academic intervention with missed classes and exams.

Help to explore legal and judicial options

Information and referrals

Assistance with Alabama Crime Victims’ Compensation applications

Title IX Offices
Your school has the legal responsibility to address sexual harassment and sexual violence. Title IX Offices at The University of Alabama, Shelton State Community College, Stillman College or any learning institution are available to assist you. Likewise, the staff at the Tuscaloosa SAFE Center can assist you with contacting Title IX coordinators at your respective schools if you desire.

Tuscaloosa Children's Center
The Tuscaloosa SAFE Center also partners with the Tuscaloosa Children's Center to provide services, advocacy and support to adolescents served by the TSC. These services will ensure that these individuals can receive the support they need in order to live health, productive lives.

ALabama Coalition
Against Rape
The Tuscaloosa SAFE Center is a member of the Alabama Coalition Against Rape (ACAR), which is a statewide non-profit organization working to prevent sexual violence in Alabama. ACAR advocates for the rights of countless victims and effects critical changes through its active role in public policy, education, and training.
