More Than 72 Hours Ago

If more than 72 hours have passed since the assault, you still have options.

In Alabama, there is no statute of limitations for reporting sexual assault. In some situations, a forensic exam may still be appropriate after 72 hours, depending on the circumstances. Even if an exam is not indicated, you can still make a report to law enforcement and speak with a forensic nurse.

The Tuscaloosa SAFE Center can help you understand your reporting options, connect you with available resources, and coordinate with law enforcement if you choose to make a report at our center.
