The Camellia Center is a part of the University of Alabama Division of Student Life. The Tuscaloosa SAFE Center partners with the Camellia Center to provide advocacy and medical

accompaniment services for students and faculty of the University of Alabama and Shelton State Community College who come to the SAFE Center.

These services are free of charge and confidential.

​

With your permission, we can contact the Camellia Center on your behalf. An advocate is available 24/7 and can provide:

• Advocacy and accompaniment to the SAFE Center

• Crisis counseling

• Safety planning

• Assistance locating safe housing

• Academic intervention for missed classes

• Support navigating Title IX processes

• Information and referrals

• Additional supportive services

Colleges and universities have a legal responsibility to address sexual harassment and sexual violence. Title IX offices are available at learning institutions to provide supportive measures, receive reports, and explain campus complaint processes.

The Tuscaloosa SAFE Center is a member of the Alabama Coalition Against Rape (ACAR), a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing sexual violence and supporting survivors across Alabama.

ACAR provides leadership in public policy, professional training, and community education, while strengthening the network of rape crisis centers throughout the state.
